Our Week in Paradise!

COZUMEL ISLAND

"AHOY! COZUMEL ISLAND!!!"

We docked next to a Trans Caribe ship - a ferry we think

The water here is so blue!! The winds were blowing pretty good as you can see by the white caps of the small waves.

The plan was for me to go SCUBA diving or snorkeling and for Dara and the kids to go sight seeing. The high winds made for rough waters though and we were told that it would be a bad day for near-shore snorkeling due to the rough sea and many of the excursions were being canceled because of it.

So, we decided to do just like we did in The Cayman Island and find a local taxi to take us around for the day. We found this one (592) and the driver was grateful to take us all around the island to see the beaches and the sights for $80 total. Again, a great deal!

First, we drove by the military base at the north end of the island.

The ancient Mayan statues "guarding" the port. That is a replica of an old pirate ship there in the harbour.

We drove east to find some secluded beach spots that were recommended to us. Tourist shops and Tequila Tours were all over the place...
